Henna & Jagua Body Art

Lawsonia Inermis, also know as the Henna plant, has been cultivated for thousands of years for
its medicinal properties and for it's ability to safely dye the skin.  Many cultures across the globe
cherish this art form known as Mehndi (painting skin with henna.)
It is believed that Henna carries Baraka
(a blessing energy that can be transferred from the artist to the wearer.)
A Henna artist may create simple to intricate designs on the body for celebrations,
rites of passage, good fortune and protection.

Henna paste should stay on the skin, undisturbed for 4-8 hours. The paste is then gently
scraped off revealing various shades of reddish brown colors as it darkens over 48 hours.

Henna Body Art can be experienced as a blessing or a temporary tattoo.
Henna designs can last anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks.
The longevity is based on how long the paste is worn,
where it is placed upon the body and how it is cared for.
For best results, do not get the henna design wet the day it is applied.
Genipa American also known as Jagua, has been cultivated for thousands of
years by Central and South American tribes for it's edible fruit, medicinal
properties and it's ability to safely dye the skin a dark blue/ black color.
Children of the Amazon Rain forest painted with Jagua fruit.
Jagua paste stays on the skin for 2-4 hours and is then rinsed or
peeled off.  Almost invisible at first, The blue/ black color reveals
itself 6-12 hours after the jagua paste is removed. Jagua designs
last up to 14 days.
